Caribbean Music Awards: 2024 Winners, Highlights and More
written by CC Mag
BROOKLYN, NEW YORK - The second annual Caribbean Music Awards commenced at Brooklyn’s King Theatre on Thursday, August 29, 2024. The awards were presented by Caribbean Elite Group, a team dedicated to highlighting Caribbean culture and artists.
For years many have watched the MTV Video Music Awards, the BET Awards and other major network platforms celebrate musical figures from around the globe. From pop culture to hip-hop icons, each platform celebrates artists within musical cultures and genres. While Caribbean artists are no strangers to global recognition, no one platform in the U.S. has dedicated itself to hosting and creating accolades for Caribbean artists outside the region.
The Caribbean Music Awards are the first to pioneer representation and celebration of the culture. For Caribbeans who emigrated to the U.S., Canada and the UK, and those who are fans of Caribbean musical genres, the awards are a long-awaited solution to the need for representation. From the French Caribbean to the popular dancehall genre, the night was a culmination of diversity and representation from various Caribbean musical genres.
